Getting Free Blog Images For Small Business Blogs

bbc-blogsWhen you read a blog entry that’s all words, how do you feel? Do you think it’s how a post should be, or do you long to see some images that will make it more appealing? If you’re like everyone else, then your answer would probably be the latter. Let’s face it, blog posts for internet business are just a lot more pleasurable to read when they have images reflective of their content. Luckily, there are now sites which offer free blog images. You no longer have to take a photo every time you update your site. In addition, you increase your SEO value too.

Blogging images can be found in many sites, but you have to ensure that they are open for everyone’s use. See, many photos online are protected by copyrights and committing the mistake of touching them can be disastrous on your part.

One, you may have to suffer the humiliation of having to take down the photos your readers have already seen and appreciated. It’s not uncommon that owners of copyrighted images would email bloggers (who used their photos without permission) to ask them to take the photos down. Two, you may have to face a shameful lawsuit for using copyrighted materials. You wouldn’t want either to happen to you, would you? What a nightmare!

Luckily, free blog images that the public and SEO companies can use are now available under Creative Commons (CC) licenses. They just require attribution to the owners.

If you haven’t heard of CC yet, it’s basically an organization that standardized the permitting of the usage and sharing of creative works in SEO companies and the public. They encourage the sharing of knowledge and creativity via free legal tools so no one would be called a thief as long as they follow simple requirements.

Now, take caution in taking CC licenses as copyright replacements. They are not. What CC licenses do is modify some copyright terms according to the decision of the creator. For instance, if a photo has an “all rights reserved” status, the owner can use a CC license that will allow others to use his or her image based on his or her own regulation. Say, he or she can allow the using, editing, tweaking, and the building up of the image as long as he or she is credited. Or, he or she can limit what can be done to it too.

After understanding creative commons licenses, let’s now decide on how to choose the appropriate image for a post.

There are a lot of bloggers who take much longer in searching for the right photo than creating an entry. This isn’t surprising especially if there are tons of photos to choose from. Naturally, you would want to pick the best one. And there’s no easier way to do this than by using the search box of the site you’re getting an image from.

On the search box, you can either type the title, the keyword, or the gist of the post you have created. Once you started the search, you will be presented with a myriad of choices which, in one way or another, are connected with what you typed. From these, pick the best ones. Then, choose the best among the best later on.

Free blog images provide an opportunity to make your blog posts a lot more pleasurable to read. Don’t hesitate to give them a try because if you do, you would miss a lot of its good.
